Density Cups
 | A stainless steel precision instrument for determining the specific weight of paints and similar products.
This instrument consists of a cylindrical container and cover with a hole for exhaust of tested liquid excess.
These can be supplied with or without a tare weight for weighing on a balance.
How to use a Density Cup:
- Weigh the Cup when empty
- Fill with the liquid
- Place lid on the Cup*
- Weigh the Gravity Cup when full and divide the weight by the volume to determine the Specific Gravity
*Note that each Cup has an escape hole in the lid to allow excess liquid to escape. Any excess liquid should be removed before weighing.
The formula for calculating Density and Specific Gravity are: |
Density= | Weight |
Unit Volume |
Specific Gravity= | Density of the Material |
Density of the Water at the Same Temperature |
Note: 50cc = 50cm3 = Volume |
100cc = 100cm3 = Volume |
